Sensate Neurovascular Island Flap for Thumb Reconstruction
نویسندگان
چکیده
Thumb pulp defects require adequate reconstruction for satisfactory sensate function and aesthetic appearance. We report a reconstructive case using neurovascular island flap raised from the ulnar side of middle finger tactile thumb pad defect. The was elevated as modified version conventional heterodigital in order to restore sensation without “double-sensibility” phenomenon. digital nerve sectioned at phalanx level donor digit coaptated radial nerves through end-to-side end-to-end neurorrhaphy. remaining preserved, proximal end prevent neuroma formation. No postoperative complications including venous congestion were observed. This technique is relatively simple reliable option reconstructing thump defects.

Composite osteocutaneous groin flap combined with neurovascular island flap for thumb reconstruction.
Three amputated thumbs were reconstructed with a composite osteocutaneous groin flap and a neurovascular island flap. The average age at the time of surgery was 28 (range 25-35) years. The level of the amputation was distal to metacarpophalangeal joint in two cases and proximal in one case. The injury mechanism was avulsion in all cases. The postoperative follow-up periods ranged from 27 to 30 ...
متن کاملThe neurovascular island flap for defective sensibility of the thumb.
In six patients with defective sensibility of the thumb the transfer of a neurovascular island flap was performed according to Littler's technique. This review one to eleven years later was mainly to determine if reorientation of the cortical representation of stimuli had developed and if tactile gnosis had persisted. The pick-up test was carried through by the three patients with a lesion of t...
متن کاملOutcome of Thumb Reconstruction Using the First Dorsal Metacarpal Artery Island Flap
BACKGROUND Reconstruction of complex soft tissue defects of the thumb, with exposure of tendons, joints or bones, has always been a difficult task. We evaluated the functional and esthetic outcomes of 1st dorsal metacarpal artery island flap in reconstruction of post-traumatic soft tissue defects of the thumb. METHODS Between January 2012 and June 2014, fifteen patients with co...
متن کاملThumb Reconstruction Using Foucher’s Flap
BACKGROUND Extensive pulp defects of the thumb, with the exposure of tendon or bone, are challenging reconstructive problems. Surgical treatment includes the use of local, regional, and free flaps. AIM This paper is focused in Foucher's neuro vascular flap. First DMCA or Foucher's pedicle flap is a successful thumb reconstruction method, especially in patients not disturbed by its cosmetic ap...
